In 2019, our client began experiencing abdominal pains and sporadic diarrhoea.
Our client underwent an upper abdominal ultrasound which found that he was suffering from borderline hepatomegaly. His doctor diagnosed him with diverticulitis and continued to give him a variety of medications.
In 2021, our client began experiencing significant GI and PR bleeding. He underwent a CT Abdomen and Pelvis which showed he was suffering from primary bowel malignancy with metastatic disease. By the time our client’s cancer was diagnosed, he was terminally ill. His cancer has since spread to his lungs, requiring more extensive treatment.
As a result of the delay in diagnosis, our client has a reduced life expectancy and a poor prognosis of survival. He has significant out-of-pocket expenses and economic loss as a result of the delay in diagnosis.
GMP Law received supportive opinions from experts who opined that there was a delay in diagnosing our client’s cancer.
Our experts believe that our client’s GP should have ordered a colonoscopy to investigate his symptoms which would have diagnosed bowel cancer.
Furthermore, our experts believe that if our client’s bowel cancer was diagnosed earlier, it would have been curable.
GMP Law has a large team that practices exclusively in medical negligence and personal injury cases. We understand how to maximise compensation and have the skills and experience to achieve that.
