RETIREE RECIEVES $50,000 IN COMPENSATION FOR INJURED SHOULDER

Whilst attending a wedding reception held on the first floor of the venue, our client was walking down stairs to go outside for some fresh air. As he negotiated the stairs our client tripped on the raised edged of one of the steps causing him to fall heavily. He reached out his right arm to break his fall and sustained an injury to his right shoulder which required a period of physiotherapy.

The raised edge on the step was found to be rubber capping for the edges of the step which had subsequently come loose and risen. The venue argued that they were not at fault as they had no knowledge of the default in the steps.

Despite this denial by the venue, we were able to negotiate the settlement of our client’s claim in the amount of $50,000. Our client was 69 years old, retired and receipt of the pension. We were able to claim compensation for his pain and suffering, out of pocket expenses for medical treatment and domestic assistance he now receives as a result of his injuries.
