A 60-Year-Old Compensated with $630K after a Motor Vehicle Accident

Case Overview
  • Our client was travelling on his motorbike when a vehicle failed to stop at a give-way sign and collided into our client.
  • Our client suffered significant physical injuries.
  • The CTP Insurer for the driver at fault accepted inability and our client’s matter was settled in the sum of $630,000.

Our client, who is currently a 60-year-old male, was involved in a motor vehicle accident in 2020 whilst travelling on his motorbike at approximately 6:30pm. Wearing all the necessary safety equipment, the vehicle at fault failed to stop at a give-way sign and pulled up directly in front of our client, resulting in a collision.

Our client sustained numerous injuries to his head, spine, shoulders, arms, hips, and legs. Further, he sustained physiological injuries such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. To treat his physical injuries sustained immediately after the collision, our client was transported to Orange Hospital.

“The insurer accepted liability and conceded that our client had in fact sustained injuries which were not minor. Therefore, our client was entitled to statutory benefits as well as to bring a claim for damages.”

Our Approach

Our office obtained medical and written evidence which indicated the level of impairment our client currently experiences, as well as, how his current injuries now impact his personal and social wellbeing. With our client’s interest at heart, we engaged in an informal settlement conference with the insurer.

Our team ensures that your claims receive justice in the form of maximum compensation. If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident, contact the team at GMP on 1800 004 878.

The Result

More Information

Pedestrians can sustain injuries in a number of ways, including hit and run incidents or being struck whilst crossing the road. If you’ve been injured in a motor vehicle accident, you’ll be glad to know that victims have the opportunity to receive compensation as part of the motor accidents compensation scheme.

Each motor vehicle accident claim requires a police report, accident notification form and personal injury claim form. The claim form is central to your claim and we recommend speaking with a lawyer to ensure the best chance of success. Once you lodge your claim, an Independent Medical Assessor reviews your claims.

Immediately following a car crash, call the police if you suspect the other driver is under to influence, and call for paramedics if you suspect you have an injury.

Following this, calling your insurer is advised, as well as taking details from other parties and witnesses. Note down any details including time, data and take photos of the scene.
