As a leading personal injury law firm in Australia, Gerard Malouf & Partners is committed to supporting communities and the not-for-profits that serve those communities. We have 25 offices across Australia in Queensland, New South Wales, ACT and Victoria. For years, our firm has given generously to organisations that safeguard our beaches through service, education and sport in the surf.
Our aim in supporting efforts to keep beaches safe and fun is important because, sadly, tragedy strikes every year in the water. In 2021, of the 294 deaths by drowning, 17% were between the ages of 25 and 34 years old. We know all too well the impact of a death or injury for a preventable reason. Our wish is to minimise those incidents that lead to injury, damage and tragedy through education and life saving service on our beach fronts and waterways all around Australia.
Our firm is pleased to be able to contribute significantly to the research, training and general operations of the Volunteer Coast Guard of South East Queensland. We encourage you to read about two fantastic not-for-profits that have saved lives through direct service, education, training and promoting awareness of Australia’s seashores.
The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard is a not-for-profit that trains volunteers in small boat craft operations to assist civilians in search and rescue operations. The Volunteer Coast Guard’s yellow boats can be seen all along the coastline and waterways assisting with marine fires or medical evacuations. They are a nationally recognised provider of First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training. In addition to small boat craft operations, interested volunteers can receive training and certification in short-range and long-range radio communications.
Surf Life Saving Australia has been dedicated to reducing injury and death in and around the water for over a hundred years. Founded in New South Wales in 1907, SLS has been keeping our beaches safe for adults and children to explore the limits of our connection with the surf through sport. SLS provides beach safety, life-saving services, and conducts research on topics such as what effect climate change may have on beach safety. We are proud sponsors of the Wanda Surf Life Club.
Gerard Malouf Partners supports local communities and the not-for-profits that serve them with pride.
