Contesting Wills Newsletter Decemeber 2010

Welcome to our GMP Contesting Wills Newsletter for December – the end of a very busy and exciting year for our practice spent achieving outstanding results for our client’s.

For those of you familiar with our practice you know that we are the natural alternative for people who wish to contest a Will. We are not a giant publicly listed law company, but a highly specialised and focused firm. We are small enough to care intimately for our clients, but large enough to have the solid financial, medical and expert resources our client’s need to match the big insurers we fight everyday.

As we reach the end of another exciting and ground breaking year for our practice we wanted to take this opportunity to wish all our clients and visitors to our website a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year break.

The Christmas and holiday period is usually a time for spending time with family and friends. Unfortunately, it can also be a time when the argument over who was left out of a family member’s Will can flair up. If this strikes a chord with you remember, that our Contesting Wills Lawyers are available to accurately assess your situation and provide you with advice on whether you would have a claim contesting a Will. It is often the case, that our client’s are unaware until they talk to our Contesting Wills Lawyers, that they may be able to do something about being left out of a Will. Remember, you are classified as an eligible person to make a claim against a Will if you fall into one of the following groups:

  1. The husband or wife of the deceased person at the time of their death;
  2. Were in a de facto relationship with the deceased person at the time of their death;
  3. Are a child of the deceased person including adopted children;
  4. Are a former husband or wife of the deceased person;
  5. Are a grandchild of the deceased and were a member of their household at any time and wholly or partly dependent upon the deceased at any time.
  6. Were living in a close personal relationship with the deceased person at the time of their death. A close personal relationship means a relationship between two adults living together (whether related or not) where there is the provision of domestic support and personal care.

If the cost of taking legal action is a concern then please remember that GMP Contesting Wills Lawyers, have a firm commitment to the No Win No Fee policy. We also continue to be the only law firm in Australia that provide a written commitment to our client’s that we will reduce our legal fee’s in the event that they are not happy with the result of the claim.
