A crash involving one vehicle at Horsley Park has left a woman in critical condition and serves as an important reminder to stay safe on the roads.
The incident occurred at approximately 22:00 last night (Sunday May 27) on Abbotsbury Drive, according to a police report.
A 41-year-old woman was driving a silver Toyota Camry sedan when she hit a telegraph pole. She was pulled from the wreckage with assistance from the Fairfield Local Area Command, the Fire and Rescue New South Wales personnel and ambulance paramedics.
She is now in Liverpool Hospital, Sydney in a critical yet stable condition. She suffered head injuries as well as sustained fractures to her neck and ribs.
Further investigations are underway and the police are appealing for witnesses.
This crash is not the only incident that occurred in the New South Wales region over the weekend.
A fatal car accident south-east of Bathurst has claimed the life of one 26-year-old man.
The man was travelling along Beaconsfield Road in a 2002 white Holden commodore when his car left the road and crashed into a tree.
He died at the scene. There were no witnesses and the accident was reported by a passing motorist. A coroner’s report is currently underway.
In addition to these fatal car accidents, a hit and run incident happened at about 01:00 in the morning on Saturday May 26 in Castle Hill. A 23-year-old man from Glenhaven was fatally injured.
It is believed that a taxi was involved – police seized one in Glenwood on Sunday morning to help them continue their investigations and has been taken for forensic investigation.
The driver, a 39-year-old man, has been contacted by the police but is yet to be arrested or to provide a formal statement.
The victim’s family is being kept informed as the case unfolds.
These fatal crashes emphasise the need to stay safe and aware on the roads. There is always a certain amount of risk involved being behind the wheel.
Victims of hit and run accidents – including their families – may like to know that they could be eligible to claim hit run accident compensation.
This can help to cover costs ranging from medical care to trauma.
Certain compensation lawyers in Sydney operate on a no win no fee basis, providing victims with an avenue to discuss whether or not they may be eligible and find a suitable course of action as they move forward.
