A collision involving three vehicles that took place in a suburb to the north-west of Sydney has seen five people taken to hospital.
Police say that the incident began on May 12 at around 11:50 when a champagne-coloured Mazda 323 travelling northbound through Castle Hill on Windsor Road attempted to make a turn into Parsonage Road.
While executing the manoeuvre from the designated turning bay, the car was connected by a Subaru Liberty travelling south on the major roadway.
The impact sent the Mazda spinning across the asphalt and into A Toyota Hilux, which was stationary at the same intersection while waiting for the lights to turn.
According to reports, the driver of the 323 – a 58-year-old woman – suffered a broken arm during the series of collisions and was taken by ambulance to the nearby Westmead Hospital.
One of her passengers – a six-year-old girl – received a number of lacerations to her face and was also taken to the healthcare facility after being seen to by paramedics.
The third occupant of the Mazda – a three-year-old-girl – managed to escape without any significant injuries and did not require medical attention.
In the Subaru, the 44-year-old woman behind the wheel was taken to hospital for observation along with her two passengers – a five-year-old boy and a seven-year-old girl – as emergency services found they had not been exposed to injury during the collision.
Fortunately, the 70-year-old man in control of the Toyota was uninjured during the crash and did not require medical attention.
Emergency services closed off a section of the roadway for a number of hours while officers from the NSW Police Force’s Crash Investigation Unit examined the site.
The victims in this particular case seem to have gotten off quite lightly, with no fatalities or critical injuries reported – and a number of people were able to walk away unscathed.
