Reckless behaviour is thought to have caused a crash that occurred in Wetherill Park, south west of Sydney, early this morning (June 15).
An 18-year-old woman crashed her car into a tree on Horsley Drive shortly after midnight.
According to an official police report, it is believed that the accident happened because the driver was trying to catch up with some people who had allegedly egged her home.
The young woman said that people in a dark coloured sedan had hurled eggs at her house so she followed them in her car.
She suffered leg injuries and was taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment.
This serves as an example of how accidents can occur if you get behind the wheel in a moment of anger or sadness.
When your emotions are high you may find it harder to concentrate on the road, therefore, putting yourself and others at risk.
The police are asking members of the public to come forward if they have any more information surrounding the circumstances of this accident.
Today there have been several other examples of reckless driving - all serving as reminders to stay safe on the roads or face the consequences.
At around 04:40 this morning, a motorist was caught travelling at a dangerously high speed by the police.
The 27-year-old driver was going at 211 kilometres per hour on the Hume Highway in Mittagong - this is more than 100 kilometres over the speed limit, as he was travelling in a 110 kilometres per hour zone.
He was arrested, taken to the police station in Bowral and is due to appear in court later this year.
While neither of these two incidents led to a loss in life, another driver in New South Wales wasn't so fortunate this morning.
A fatal car accident occurred just after 09:00 in the Hunter Valley, on John Renshaw Drive in the suburb of Buchanan.
Three vehicles were involved in the collision - two four wheel drives and one sedan.
There were two passengers in the sedan. The male driver is suffering from critical injuries and has been taken to hospital, whereas the female passed away at the scene.
All of the occupants of the two four wheel drives are in a stable condition.
These incidents are sombre reminders of the risks of being on the road.
While no one wants to go through an experience like this, it may be worth knowing that there are compensation lawyers in Sydney that can help you make a claim if you are involved in an accident.
